Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the land we we host a majority of our trainings on was historically home to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (ᏗᎧᎸᎦ ᎠᏂᏴᏫᏯ - di-ka-lv-ga A-ni-yv-wi-ya), the Principle People of the East. Their ancestors were forcibly removed from this land. We commit to learning about Cherokee history and culture, including the original names of local places. We will continue our work to support efforts toward food sovereignty by showing up physically with a group of acrobats to support land labor. Additionally, we will raise funds and awareness about ongoing work to preserve language.
We recognize the historical trauma inflicted upon the Cherokee people and the ongoing impact of systemic racism on Indigenous communities and Black Americans. We aim to use our efforts to support and uplift the voices of the Cherokee people and to work towards racial justice and equality for all."
